Have you ever met a Yuppie* who admits to it?
ever met a yuppie whom you liked?
Are the values they reflect
those we feel we must reject
as representing Mammon and the like?
*Yuppie — Young upwardly
mobile professional
Do you count among acquaintances a Dink* or two?
know any you would value as a friend?
Is it scorn for all those things
that their double income brings
or the view that all they do is work to spend?
*Dink – Double income,
no kids
All such philosophic matters are too deep for me
relating to life’s meaning and all that.
But if I were young and rich
I’d have less a jealous itch!
I speak now as an unrepentant MAC*
