The amounts paid by the Dental Care Plan NJC part to a member of the plan will be registered on that employee’s file as though they had been incurred in Canada. That is the Canadian Dental Association fee schedule will be applied against the procedure underwent by the member or his dependents and the amount prescribed by such fee schedule will be registered on that plan member’s file rather than the amount charged in the foreign country the work was performed in. This will ensure plan members assigned abroad will not reach their annual maximum any faster than if based in Ottawa.
Members with young families must remember to apply for family coverage on the day their oldest child turns six or within sixty days of that date should they wish to elect for children coverage. As the premium paid for family coverage does not vary according to the number of children covered, there will be no need to register the other children.
Did You Know That
A Foreign Service employee can make use of a FSD50 assisted leave entitlement at any time during his/her tour of duty provided he/she does not exceed his/her entitlement.
A Foreign Service employee may obtain up to 8 days additional leave over and above what is provided for his/her collective agreement for family-related responsibilities or bereavement leave.
Leave used in conjunction with Post-attributable injuries or illnesses is not to be charged to an employee’s accumulated sick leave credits regardless of the employee’s place of assignment at the time of absence.
Upon completion of 24 consecutive months of service at one or more Posts where a Post Differential Allowance (PDA) is payable, the PDA is increased by 50%. Temporary absences, LWOP or assignments in Canada do not constitute a break in service.
