Contract Negotiations
Jon Fried, PAFSO’s negotiator, exchanged PAFSO’s contract proposals with the Treasury Board negotiator. PAFSO’s proposals range from pay demands to the inclusion of a grievance procedure in the Foreign Service collective agreement.
Foreign Service Directives
On account of a management proposal on the simplification of the FSD’s, the input date for the 1988 review has been postponed to June 1, 1987. John Lobsinger and C. Manseau are currently finalizing PAFSO’s proposals as well as exploring the options proposed by management in the context of the simplification exercise.
Dental Plan
The NJC Dental Care Plan covering PAFSO members as well as excluded employees and the management group was effective March 1, 1987. Dental Care booklets and enrolment forms are currently being distributed to all members of the Plan. Enrolment in the plan is compulsory unless your spouse has dental coverage elsewhere. Payroll deductions will probably start in May and claim forms should be available around that time as well. Any expenses incurred under the dental plan are claimable as of March 1, 1987; just ask your dentist to complete and sign a standard dental claim form which can be thereafter attached to the Dental Care Plan claim form. PAFSO’s Executive Director has been appointed to the NJC Dental Care Plan’s Board of Management and any inquiries can be addressed to her at the PAFSO office.
