On October 2, PAFSO counted the ballots for its first-ever election for its Board of Directors. There were 21 candidates for the 15 positions. (Results below) At its first meeting, the new Executive asked Len Mader to continue as President (he had taken over from Jean-Paul Delisle when the latter was posted to Paris) and as vice-presidents, Daryl Copeland, Scott Heatherington, Jean-Marc Duval, John Lobsinger. Gordon Morrison remains as Treasurer. At subsequent meetings, Jon Fried was prevailed upon to take up the organization of the Contract Negotiations. He is being assisted by Jon Allan, Francois Laberge, Daryl Copeland, David Edwards, Rodney Briggs and Gregory Kostrysky. John Lobsinger has taken on the coordination of the Foreign Service Directives.

Upon the resignation of Rob Mackenzie who has entered management exclusion as Executive Assistant to Gerry Shannon, Deputy Minister for Trade, the Executive decided, after much debate and a divided vote, to choose the candidate from the Commercial/Economic Stream who received the next highest vote.
