You think joke
Because smile,
And normal folk
Think that’s sheer guile.
But when see
Before my eyes
Pure hypocrisy
It’s no surprise
That point it out, comme i faut
But gently, without braggadocio.
’m_tired of reading economic news
That all is lost, recession woes are here,
Financial analysts with thoughts abstruse
Expect that we will nod and all concur.
But I’ve discovered in the fashion world
Where retro lingerie stalks the catwalks,
Where Givenchy still reigns, a demiworld
Exists; Armani dazzles, wild in high baroque.
Couture transcends the economic bile
And panders with its satin, silk chef d’œuvres
To those who flaunt an elegance of style
In handmade hats of Dior chic and verve.
They, nestled in a sexuality
Of elegance and flowers, prove the rule:
Fashions’ famed irresponsibility
Trumps economic woes and ridicule.
And what of men, are they exempt think you
From fashion’s folly, in these straightened times?
No way, for dudes, masculine through and
through
Have discovered the “Mirdle” a male paradigm,
A girdle for men designed to contain
Too generous a belly and handles of love.
Three hundred dollars to remain urbane
Buy a tee-shirt on steroids that fits like
a glove. B
