Born in Montreal in 1956, Violette Paré began her expatriate experience early: she lived in West Africa from the age of 7 to 17. That was followed by several years of exploration in Canada, studying and working as a set and costume designer for the theatre, during which she also obtained her teaching degree. Since 1991 she has travelled, lived and worked abroad accompanying her husband, a Canadian Foreign Service Officer. In recent years she began to draw cartoons about her life as an expatriate spouse.
