Josef Jurkovic fled Czechoslovakia in 1968 settling in Canada. At Waterloo and Carleton universities he specialized in Canadian Studies and International Relations, joining External Affairs in 1975. In 1989 he became a consultant. A founding Director of the Centre for Excellence in Communications, he served on the Ottawa boards of the Canadian Public Relations Society and Canadian Society for Training and Development. He is married and a proud father of four.
