James Reed, an American, is President of Addis & Reed Consulting, Inc., in Boston. He is the author of The Missionary Mind and American East Asia Policy (Harvard University Press), a study of the traditional Far Eastern policy of the United States. In 1992-93 Dr. Reed is a Visiting Scholar at Harvard. He has visited Canada regularly since 1955 and has travelled in every Canadian province except Newfoundland.
