After a thirty-five year career in the Canadian Foreign Service, Fred Bild has returned to his home-town of Montreal. His last posting was as Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. He also served as Ambassador to Thailand and Vietnam, as Minister in Paris and, in Ottawa, as Assistant Deputy Minister for International Political Affairs. He is currently teaching Chinese politics and economics at the University of Montreal.
